Engage

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

This week begins the New Ministry Year.

We need you, and you need us…I suppose that is how a BODY works.

ENGAGEMENT is key to spiritual health.  If you want to be healthy and assured as a Christian you must be engaged in and with the local church.  The Bible knows nothing of a growing Christian who is not connected in a healthy way to the local church.

In fact the Bible is clear that disengagement puts us in danger to being deceived by sin (Hebrews 3:12-14).  We need to exalt God together, to hear from God and His Word, and to be a blessing to one another.

This is more than attendance on Sunday morning (although it is not less), and includes a commitment of our lives to one another in using our gifts in the church (Ephesians 4:11-16).

So as we begin this year, commit to engage with us in seeking to bring honour and glory to God!

What does this practically mean?

Commit to attending every Sunday and looking for someone to encourage.  Come with pen and notepaper longing to know God and His Word more.  Make it a HIGH PRIORITY to have your Sunday’s spent at CBC growing and serving.

Join a small group!  This is key to getting connected and serving one another and growing.  Make it a high priority to be a part of a small group, and be loyal to her by attending and participating and deepening your intimacy with this small group!

Connect to teaching.  Make Discipleship Hour a priority with your family, bring your kids and stay.  Talk together about what you are learning.  Sign up for the Habits Of Grace Conference and make it a priority to grow together.  Talk about what you are learning, and keep growing together!

Find a place to serve.  Use your spiritual gifts so that you are a blessing to others in the family.  We have many places where this can start…and all are important.  You can garden (thanks PY), you can usher, you can serve kids, you can….  If you are in this family, God has gifted you to join us in bringing glory to His name, and without your service, we will suffer.

STOP.  If you are serious about honoring God this year, go back and commit to being a heatlhy part of our local church this year.  ENGAGE!

Live in the conscious presence of God every day and you will engage with God's family in a healthy way.  Seek to set.  Psalm 16:8…

So…ENGAGE!

Entering a New Year is always an opportunity to evaluate what really matters, and for God, and those who choose to follow Him, high on that list is engagement with the local church.  So this year…ENGAGE!

Stay informed and stay involved (or get involved!)

I am so excited about what this year will bring!

Loyal to you as my local church because I am seeking to be loyal to God,

Pastor Rob
