To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
We have finished preaching through Habakkuk, but my prayer is that Habakkuk is not finished with us!
We live in a broken world, and we can experience in the midst of the worst of the brokenness the blessing of God. Habakkuk has shown us how to move from confusion in the chaos to praise in His presence.
It is okay to ask God questions in the midst of the pain you might be going through, and when that pain meets God and our faith in Him re-orients our reality, there is HOPE!
I love Habakkuk 3:16-19…and in the context of the worst devastation, it allows us to re-orient our lives to the reality of who God is and what God has done!
Take a moment to reflect on our journey through Habakkuk. How has it helped you to live a life of faith? What can you do practically to get to the place where you will rejoice in the LORD with the people of God in the worst the world can bring against you?
How can your biggest devastations be a chances for your deepest delight in God?
I think this book has given us a challenge to pray for revival and to live lives of faith. To be those who truly believe in the God of the Bible, and that He cares about our lives and is engaged in all that happens. To rejoice in the richness of His love and experience this love in such a way that we glorify His name.
He is a VERY PRESENT HELP IN TIMES OF TROUBLE!
He is our GREATEST TREASURE!
So as you reflect on this powerful book, REMEMBER the greatness of who God is and what He has done for you…REORIENT your life around who He is and what He has done, and RELATE to Him with JOY.
If God’s Word is true, and God is real, relevant and relational, than our treasuring on Him will shine brightest when the times we are experiencing are the darkest.
LET FAITH DESTROY FEAR….AND IN DEVESTATION…DELIGHT IN HIM.
This week a lot is going on in our world. There is an election in the USA…pray for God’s will to be done there…this is a prayer week for the persecuted church…pray for those who suffer because they treasure Jesus…remember…PRAYER IS THE MOST YOU CAN DO.
Lori and I are planning on going to minister to pastors from a persecuted church in March, pray for us as we start to prepare to encourage and impact them for God’s glory and their ministry to hurting persecuted people.
Privileged to REJOICE WITH YOU, and SING FOR JOY in the midst of all of the brokenness of our lives,
Pastor Rob & Lori
George Burden went to glory and we celebrated His life on Sunday. George was a good friend, and someone who used his life to be a blessing to those around him. I personally experienced this through their (include Marley) faithfulness to God’s bride even when there were struggles, and their love for our boys (each boy had a breakfast date with them on their birthdays for the last 20 years). May their lives and now in the frailty of George being called home prepare us to live for God now faithfully to His people and His bride, and to live for eternity in His presence by grace through faith.
Now, if you are still alive, you can choose to be faithful to God and His people, and be a blessing to those around you…Don’t wait…life is frail, and eternity knocking…
Sunday Is Coming:
We are starting a short series in the book of Jude. Take the time to read through the book and learn about assurance in God in the midst of all of life.
Title: We Are Deployed
Jude 1-2
- What does it mean to be IN CHRIST?
- Define as best you can:
- Purchased
- Called
- Beloved
- Kept
- What do these words mean to you? Try to think experientially.
- Why is it important to constantly remember who God is, and what Jesus has done for us?
- Why do you think that JUDE starts with this?
- What can you do practically in your life to find your identity in Christ?
- How can you grow in your experience of all that God has done for you?
