Where is Our Hope Found?

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

You may not have heard, but this week there is a big election down south and it is not over yet.  It seems to have created a mess for evangelicals, and there is all sorts of conflict over who to vote for and why.  My heroes from USA have come out in different ways, and so it seems we are dividing over politics a little.

Three Reminders For You:

1.  We are strangers and aliens here on earth.  I am a proud Canadian, and love our country, HOWEVER my true home is heaven.  I am not a duel citizen, I am a child of God.  So we should never look to politics to save us, rather we should cling to the Gospel and share it.

2.  What unites us in Christ is far more powerful than what separates us in politics (or anything else for that matter).  So, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, and trust in Him fully and unite with those who truly know Him as well.  If we happen to disagree on politics, favourite preachers, or hockey teams, let those important (but not essential) issues be secondary.  I believe strongly in our obligation to be good citizens, and to vote with our conscience (the value and dignity of life from the womb to the grave is very important for me), BUT far more important is our being good ambassadors for Jesus and partners in the Gospel.

3.  Pray.  We are called to pray for our governments, and to live peaceable lives.  Pray for our governments in Canada, and because we are so connected to the USA, for what goes on there as well.  Pray for Christians there to focus on the right things, and for God to do His will.  AND DON'T STOP PRAYING.

Whatever happens this week is under the Sovereign care of a loving God, so TRUST HIM, pray and pursue what you think is best, and REST!

WE STARTED OUR DEVOTIONAL READING TOGETHER ON SUNDAY.

Today is day 3 (pg. 103), and it is a great reminder that the Gospel is not simply good news, but it is good news that accomplishes a relational reality with God that will drive and define us.  As you read this today what are some steps you can take to ensure that you are living relationally?  Does your life show your full devotion to Jesus?

If you haven't got a book yet, they can be ordered on Amazon, picked up from the church, or downloaded from our website.  Please join us in this, as we seek to stay connected, and engaged, ESPECIALLY in the midst of a pandemic!

Sunday Is Coming:

Please prepare your hearts for what God has for us!  We are in one of the great passages of Scripture that calls for complete surrender to Jesus.

Today, if you hear HIs voice, in the context of the Gospel surrender completely.

Title:  From Head, To Heart, To Hands

Text:  Romans 12:1-2

  • What is the therefore, therefore?
  • How does the Gospel call for full devotion?
  • What does it mean to be a living sacrifice?
  • Why do we need to make sure we are not conforming, but being transformed by the renewing of our minds?
  • How can we make sure that we are doing this?

In your books there is a challenge to sign, to offer yourself completely to Him, DO THIS if you are one who has experienced the Gospel.  He deserves it, and His grace transforms!

Called Out, Sent In conference coming in November.  We are sponsoring a TGC online (and live) conference on November 7.  We will be joined by a church in Calgary and Newfoundland as we seek to maximize our holiness, and our impact for God in the world, but not of the world.  You can sign up to attend online (free, but must be signed up), or find our link online and join us for a morning in God's Word here, and across Canada.  So far our sign up has been limited, and we need to know if you are coming.  It will be from 9-12:30.  We would love to have you join us LIVE, or ONLINE.  If our numbers are not a little better by tomorrow (Wednesday) we will make this an exclusively online conference, so if you want to come SIGN UP RIGHT NOW!
