Set Apart By God & For God

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Last week we had our AGM.  This is a chance for us to reflect on what God is doing in us and through us, and there is much to praise God for!

Thank you for sharing the Gospel with your life and lips!

Thank you for giving faithfully to the LORD, and helping us to be good stewards.

Thank you for serving in ministries and helping our ministries to grow and honour God and serve His people and this community we are living in.

It is also a time to look forward as we rejoice that we are growing deeper in intimacy with God and wider in impact for His glory.

The elders have decided that our theme for the coming year will be HOLINESS.  This comes from a passion to experience the HOLINESS of God, and respond and choose to be HOLY because He is Holy.

What does it mean to be HOLY?  It means that we are set apart by God for God.  He makes us holy in Jesus and we are to pursue a purity of life that impacts how we think, feel and live.  Without holiness, no one will see the LORD.

To grow in our passion to be holy we must see God’s holiness, rejoice in Christ’s making us holy, and pursue actively holiness in our everyday lives. It will take effort in seeking who He is, the experience of His grace, and our own passionate pursuit of being driven and defined by our relationship with Him

God has set us apart to be His people, active in ministry for Him.  He has set us apart to serve Him.  This means if we are not actively serving Him we are not living holy lives.  God has set us apart to be different than the world…and this means if we are not pursuing purity, we are not holy.  This is more than sexual purity, although it is certainly not less.  We want to be who God has called us to be, and that is to be HOLY PEOPLE.

WE ARE SET APART BY GOD AND FOR GOD!

If you want to grow in holiness (and all God’s authentic followers do), you must grow in your understanding of God’s holiness, your experience of God’s grace that makes you holy, and pursue ministry and purity.  Growing deeper in our understanding and application of this will make the coming year one of great joy and passionate impact.

Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  We Have Been Commanded:

Text:  Jude

Take the time as you prepare your heart for being shaped by God’s Word to read the entire book.

What stands out to you in terms of the book now that we have spent a few weeks in it?

The verses we will focus on this Sunday are verses 17-23…and show us how to CONTEND.

How does it help us to see that we were told to expect attack from the inside of the church?

How does this help us to trust God when we see the church drifting from God’s Word and its application?

If everyone in our church family did what these verses command we would be safe from drifting in our doctrine and authenticity of living.

Define how Jude tells us to contenc...and then surrender to pursuing the following:

  • Build yourself up in the most holy faith
  • Pray in the Holy Spirit
  • Keep yourself in the love of God
  • Wait for Jesus
  • Have mercy on the lost who think they are found
  • Hate sin and its stain

Why is important to us who are called to CONTEND FOR THE FAITH to find assurance in God’s keeping of us?

Meditate on the benediction found here (24-25), and rejoice in God’s goodness to keep you!

Privileged to contend with you for the FAITH OF THE GOSPEL once delivered to the saints.

Pastor Rob
